Click To Tweet This : "If You Get Stuck, Draw With A Different Pen" - Paul Arden
I was reading the book "it's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be" during my night time wind down the other night and I stumbled upon page 82 of this witty yet insightful book by Paul Arden, and it got me thinking..To the point where I added the page marker & started to reflect on the words which had formulated in my mind.
"If You get Stuck Draw With A Different Pen". What does that mean? Our journey to abundance and creating the life we want to live can become so overwhelming sometimes that mental blocks keep showing up.But we know that we must pause for a bit, yet we fear that if we do, we might get left behind...
But in actuality, exactly what we need is a break to redesign the roadmap and add some color or character to the entire plan. Although the context might be taken literally by some, there is a deeper meaning behind it.. how to I add some spice to the equation to keep the momentum going?
I'm actively part of Carrie Greens Facebook community for her book "She Means Business" and I see a few women who become vulnerable and open to sharing their moments of overwhelm. Seeking advice and asking feedback from other's own experiences. And this is something I have been faced with. Being Stuck and NOT knowing what to do. Feeling like I was drawing in vain...
Now taking this quote to a whole different level there's a deeper meaning which can be derived form it.And that is " if you change your tools you will be able to change your thinking" hence, changing your roadmap a bit in order to allow the growth to continue. A rigid mind becomes dull and boring after awhile & repels new ideas to grow. Ideas it might think are out of the norm or silly..
The bigger question though is how do decide whether or not you're stuck? How to you come to the realisation that you're just keeping busy but not productive?
First step - begin to drive your parked car. You can't get anywhere unless you move.
..Looking at your roadmap from the outside, allow yourself to look at these 2 angles:"where you started vs where you are now & what growth has taken place since then"
If you find yourself in the same square tile for too long, it's an indication that something in your strategic plan is not functioning as it should and that you should do something about it. Take a genuine account of stock, ask questions and identify where and what you keep finding yourself returning too. And then figure out how to move on from there.
Give yourself the freedom to explore new avenues, explore possibilities & embracing all life has to offer.
